4 Stars

A good collection of more short stories than I expected. More hits than misses. Here’s my opinion on the individual stories:
D7 – 4 Stars
An intruiging Story of a haunted Bar & Grill.
The Visitor – 4 Stars
I like a good Haunted House/Demonic Posession story and this was full of atmosphere and foreboding.
The Mummified Corpse of Reese Witherspoon – 2 Stars
Interesting premise, but did not really go far enough in my opinion.
The Servitor – 3 Stars
Another interesting Idea, even if I would not call it horror as such.
King Mob – 2 Stars
This one was not for me, perhaps if I had a better knowledge of the historical events explored in this it would make more of an impression.
The Hunter – 3.5 Stars
A good tale about the creepy things that might hide in our basements, and the even scarier things that live in plain sight with us.
Point Oh One – 3.5 Stars
Another intruiging thought experiment about human nature (or rather one person’s horrible character) completed with a bit of a life lesson.
Betrothed – 4 Stars
This is the sort of story you could tell around a campfire as a warm up before the really scary ones.
My Love, Do Not Wake – 5 Stars
This was Weird with a capital W, and I say that in a good way. Not many other short stories have held my attention this much, even if I could predict the end.
The Black Rider – 1 Star
The shortest and in my opinion weakest story of the set.
Dream of Me – 5 Stars
I loved this one, it awakened the sort of nostalgia for finding really scary urban myths as a young teen and scaring yourself with them. Had me tensely awaiting the climax.
The Resident – 4 Stars
Another one that would do very well around a campfire in the middle of the night.
I Think My Treehouse Is Haunted – 5 Stars
My other favourite from this ollection, although I had a feeling of déjà vu, partially from a similar but different story of a ghost in a treehouse which I no longer remember where I stumbles upon it, and partially because as soon as the bleeding man was introduced, I knew exactly how it would play out. I wonder if it was published somewhere else before or if I am just too used to how these stories usually go, but I enjoyed it tremendously.
Red Leather – 4 Stars
A slightly slower paced one to finish the collection off, but still a very good story that, again, would do well with dozens of variations around campfires across the world.
