Man, I really want to read IT again.
This assortment of essays on one of Stephen King’s big (both literally and metaphorically) books really showcases the authors’ love for IT, even after 40 years. Including texts from names that I’ve come across before, names I’ve never heard in my life, and names that I really should have known but didn’t make the connection until the little summary of who the writer is. One name that stood out to me was Larry Hinkle, whose latest short story collection I reviewed earlier this year. I remember saying, that there were too many King references in it, but I get it now, he’s just another really big fan. Authors are normal people, too (the literary equivalent to finding out your teachers don’t live in the school, I guess).
The essays explore a wide range of character analysis, personal memories of the impact of IT, interviews, looks behind the scenes, and much more, so there is something for every IT fan in this collection. Some of my favourites were the essays that taught me just how much of the story was inspired by real life events, as well as those that explored the editing process or the publishing industry.
Perhaps I was also slightly affected by the one of the collector, because I am currently looking at pretty hardcover editions to complete my collection.
